It didn’t take long for the Saints and cornerback Brandon Browner to hammer out the remaining details of a contract.

PFT reported around 2 p.m. ET that the Saints and Browner were closing in on a deal that would land the former Patriot and Seahawk in New Orleans. Less than an hour later, the Saints announced that they had signed Browner.

The team offered no details of the contract, although Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that it is a three-year deal worth roughly $18 million. The Saints are said to like Browner’s leadership in addition to his ability to fill a starting cornerback role on a defense that needs to be much better next season.

Browner also drew interest from the Redskins, but never made it to Washington for a visit. Mike Jones of the Washington Post points out that Browner also cancelled a visit with the team last year when he signed with the Patriots. Perhaps the third time will turn out to be the charm.
