SAINTS FREEZE SEASON-TICKET PRICES

The New Orleans Saints have announced that the price of season tickets won’t increase in 2009. The Saints have sold out the stadium via season-ticket sales for the last three seasons. “I believe we have the most loyal fans in the NFL, and the support we’ve had from our season ticket holders since 2006 especially has been unprecedented in our club’s history,” said owner Tom Benson. “It’s a streak I wanted to acknowledge and see continue, and freezing season ticket prices is one way to recognize the atmosphere and enthusiasm that they bring to the Superdome.” The team also announced that prices at the concession stand and parking fees won’t change next year.Recently, the league annonced that playoff tickets will be, on average, 10 percent lower this season in comparison to last year’s average prices. The move toward containing prices is smart business. With consumers restricting their discretionary income, the league could be facing a spike in blackouts if people quit buying tickets because they believe they can’t afford them until the economy turns around.
