As the New Orleans Saints, a preseason favorite of many to make it to Tampa for Super Bowl XLIII, struggle to get out of the NFC South basement, they’ll have to do it without cornerback Mike McKenzie. McKenzie suffered a broken kneecap during Sunday’s loss to the Falcons, and likely is gone for the year. The injury has occurred in the same knee in which McKenzie suffered a torn ACL late in the 2007 season. McKenzie has been told that the injury will require a rehabilitation of three to six months. The injury occurred when McKenzie’s knee struck the ground in the first half of Sunday’s game. “It would be a little easier to take if I got rolled up on,” he said. “This is the second time it just got caused by the turf.
