Greg Schiano is not shy, so he asked for the digits of John Shoop and has called for an interview for the Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator vacancy.

Alex Marvez of reports that Shoop is interviewing for the position today.

Shoop has spent the last five seasons as the offensive coordinator at North Carolina, and Schiano’s interest in him is another sign that Schiano plans to put together a staff heavy on former college coaches. Schiano, formerly the head coach at Rutgers, is reportedly planning to bring at least four of his Rutgers assistants with him to Tampa.

But Shoop isn’t only a college coach; he was the Bears’ offensive coordinator from 2001 to 2003 and has also been the quarterbacks coach of the Buccaneers, Raiders and Panthers.

Schiano is also apparently considering Ron Turner as offensive coordinator. Schiano showed interest in Bill Lazor for the job, but Lazor decided to remain as offensive coordinator at Virginia.
