With the cost of Kam Chancellor’s holdout already at $1.87 million through Week One, the addition of another lost game check will add another $267,000 to the total, pushing the total north of $2.1 million. And there’s no end in sight.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, there’s been no contact between the Seahawks and Chancellor’s agent since Tuesday, September 8.

It’s not a huge surprise, since there’s apparently nothing for them to talk about. The Seahawks are determined not to do anything with the three years left on Chancellor’s contract, leaving Chancellor’s options clear and defined: Show up or keep holding out.

Some think that a loss on Sunday night to the Packers would make the Seahawks more willing to get something done. For coaches or General Managers with less job security, there could be a much greater sense of urgency to get Chancellor back. But John Schneider and Pete Carroll have built up plenty of goodwill with the owner and fans over the last few years, and they’re surely feeling no connection between getting Chancellor back on the job and saving their own.
