The Loucheiz Purifoy era is over in Seattle before it could begin.
The Seahawks waived Purifoy on Monday after failing a physical with the team. Seattle had claimed him off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts on Friday.
Purifoy was added to the roster when the Seahawks placed linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Head coach Pete Carroll said Monday Pierre-Louis likely will need surgery to repair an injured labrum.
The Colts had elected to keep Purifoy out of training camp over Marcus Burley, who Seattle traded for in exchange for a draft pick during final cuts. A Florida product, Purifoy (5-11, 188) appeared in all 11 regular season games for Indianapolis, notching five tackles (two solo) on special teams.
The Seahawks currently have an open roster spot and were in the process of evaluating their options Monday afternoon, according to Carroll.
