As Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins continues to recover from shoulder surgery, he may have to wait a little longer to get medical approval to return to practice.
Jenkins is expected to visit Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Florida this week, and the visit could be delayed by the tropical storm bearing down on the region, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.
Pensacola sits in the western edge of the Florida panhandle; the storm is expected to glance the bottom of the state and then turn north toward the Gulf Coast.
“Not scheduled right now,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said regarding Jenkins’ anticipated follow-up with Dr. Andrews, who last examined the player two weeks ago. “But I think it’s going to be sooner rather than later. He’s going to get an opinion from Dr. Andrews and then we’ll take a look at it at that time.”
The Cowboys must decide soon whether to activate Jenkins from the Physically Unable to Perform list. If Jenkins remains on the PUP list to start the season, he’ll be required to spend at least six weeks out of action.
