Summers of Favre, Vick to hit full boil soon

Not much is going on in the NFL right now. (But that hasn’t kept us from constantly looking for stuff to write about.)

Things will be going on soon in the NFL, as negotiations for first-round draft picks begin to heat up and the opening of training camps approaches.

Things will be going on for another reason. Actually, two things will be going on.

Very soon, much of the media’s attention will turn to a couple of quarterbacks: Brett Favre and Mike Vick.

For both men, July 20 is a key date. On that day, Vick will be released from federal custody, and Favre’s presumptive next team will commence the process of selling single-game tickets for the coming season.

So if Favre is going to play for the Vikings, he’ll most likely announce his decision this week, so that all tickets will be snapped up minutes after they are made available. (Our guess remains July 16.) And if Vick is going to be permitted to play in the NFL in 2009, his reinstatement bid will accelerate significantly as of July 20.
