The 49ers locked up their third draft pick of the morning when safety Taylor Mays agreed to a four-year contract, according to Matt Maiocco of Comcast Bay Area.
49ers coach Mike Singletary said this week that finding a safety during the draft was a priority, and he was excited to put Mays in the position to succeed this year. Mays was taken late in the second round.
Known as a big hitter, Mays will have to prove he can handle coverage responsibilities before he becomes a starter. The only remaining unsigned 49ers draft pick is guard Mike Iupati.
