Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs was arrested in Arizona after a one-car accident earlier this month and released a statement a short time later saying that a suspended driver’s license was the reason for the arrest.
That’s not the only charge that Suggs will face as a result of the accident, however. Suggs has been charged with both driving with a suspended license and failure to notify authorities after striking a fixture, which was the median that he hit with his car. Suggs told police he may have fallen asleep before the accident and was not found to be impaired by drugs or alcohol.
TMZ reports that the charges, both of which are misdemeanors, can result in jail time. The suspended license charge can lead to up to six months behind bars while the failure to notify charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail.
Suggs will likely find a way to resolve the case without being incarcerated for more than half a year. He could be disciplined under the personal conduct policy as well.
