Terrelle Pryor isn’t giving up on his NFL dream just yet. And he isn’t done trying to prove he can play wide receiver, either.
Pryor, the former Raiders starting quarterback who is trying to reinvent himself as a receiver, has scheduled two workouts with NFL teams for next week, a league source tells PFT. He’ll do wide receiver drills in both workouts.
The question is whether an NFL team thinks he’s close enough to being ready to contribute as a wide receiver to use a 53-man roster spot on him. The NFL’s rules limit practice squads to inexperienced players, and Pryor has too much experience to be eligible. Pryor’s lack of experience at wide receiver would seem to make him the kind of player the practice squad is made for, but there’s no exception to the practice squad rules for players who are trying to learn a new position.
Pryor may have an uphill battle convincing a team that he’s ready to contribute at wide receiver soon enough that he should be signed to an active roster. But he at least has a couple teams interested enough to take a look.
