Texans get on the board, beat the Bucs

The Houston Texans have won a game.

After an ugly start to the season, the Texans improved to 1-2 today with a 19-9 win over the Buccaneers.

It wasn’t a pretty game for Houston, but there were some bright spots: Running back Alfred Blue had a big day, carrying 31 times for 139 yards and a touchdown, and receiver DeAndre Hopkins had eight catches for 101 yards and a score. J.J. Watt had a tackle for loss and three quarterback hits.

For the Buccaneers, Jameis Winston continues to disappoint. He completed just 17 of 36 passes for 261 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. The Bucs can’t afford to have Winston completing less than half his passes. The Bucs also can’t afford to have kicker Kyle Brindza keep missing: Brindza hit a 58-yard field goal and then missed three makable field goals, and an extra point. The Bucs may go shopping for a new kicker this week.

The Texans, meanwhile, head into this week feeling good. In an AFC South where all four teams are 1-2, Houston is in contention after finally getting on the board today.
