TITANS’ FINNEGAN, RAVENS’ MASON FINED, SUGGS NOT

The NFL has fined Tennessee Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason $5,000 apiece for a sideline scuffle during Sunday’s game. However, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs was not fined for his hit on Titans quarterback Kerry Collins late in the game. Suggs got a very questionable roughing the passer penalty that extended the fourth-quarter drive on which the Titans would later score the game-winning touchdown. In addition to not being fined for the hit, Suggs was apparently not fined for saying afterward, “If anybody can go back and show me something I did illegal, then I would be happy to oblige and say I messed up. But when you are nowhere near his head - we hit arms, we hit arms — it just goes to show the referee has too much power in the game.” Neither Finnegan nor Mason was flagged for a penalty in connection with the incident for which they were both fined, although Finnegan did get an unnecessary roughness penalty at another point in the game. He wasn’t fined for that penalty.
