Tom Brady: I’ll be ready to go on Sunday

For most people, the initial reaction to the news that quarterback Tom Brady missed Thursday’s practice with what the team called a calf injury was probably that Brady will play and that his day off wasn’t worth worrying about.

For anyone who took the absence more seriously, Brady offered a calming message on Thursday night. During an interview with Jim Gray of Westwood One, Brady said that he used the day to concentrate on the mental side of preparation for the Dolphins and that he’ll be just fine once Sunday rolls around.

“Physically I had the day off, but I got a lot of extra film in,” Brady said. “I got a lot of extra mental reps in and walk-throughs and such and I’ll be ready to go Sunday.”

Brady offered up the caveat that anything can happen between now and Sunday, but the history of Brady’s past appearances on the injury report and missed practices preceding business as usual on Sunday would seem to put that cautionary note into the “you could be hit by a bus tomorrow” category.
