Tony Romo suggests a Major League-style comeback for the Cowboys

Tony Romo is back, and he thinks his Dallas Cowboys can make a comeback like the 1989 Cleveland Indians.

No, not the actual 1989 Cleveland Indians, who went 73-89. Romo is referencing the Indians from the 1989 movie Major League, a beleaguered team that had a late-season turnaround and won the pennant.

Romo, who is expected to start on Sunday after missing the last seven games, took to Twitter today for the first time since suffering his broken collarbone and tweeted a video from Major League in which the Indians’ catcher and team leader, Jake Taylor, gave a short but sweet speech to fire up his teammates and inspire a title run.

“I guess there’s only one thing left to do,” Taylor tells his teammates in the Indians’ locker room. “Win the whole f--king thing.”

Could the Cowboys really do that, now that Romo is back? Considering that they’re 2-7, it’s extraordinarily unlikely.

On the other hand, the Cowboys were 2-0 with Romo at the helm to start the season. Could they run the table, finish 9-7, and win the NFC East? It’s unlikely, but so was the Indians coming back and beating the Yankees. Romo is hoping for a Hollywood ending.
