The Chargers announced the signing of veteran tight end Jeff Cumberland Monday.
ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported that it’s a one-year deal for Cumberland, who was released by the Jets last month after six seasons.
Cumberland played in 31 games over the last two seasons and started six games last season. For his career, Cumberland has 86 catches for 1,119 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Chargers will probably still draft a tight end, but for now they needed a replacement for Ladarius Green, who signed with the Steelers.
