Falcons quarterback Mike Vick will be back in court today, as part of the ongoing effort to secure approval for his bankruptcy plan. According to the Virginian-Pilot, Vick’s lawyers will request more time to finalize the proposed plan, and they will seek permission to sell certain real estate holdings. The article in the Virginian-Pilot also contains a bizarre statement regarding the status of Vick’s playing career: “His lawyers said they do not expect any announcement today on whether Vick will be reinstated in the NFL.” Um, why is that even a question? Did someone actually think that a federal bankruptcy judge had jurisdiction over the question of whether Vick could rejoin the NFL? If so, we suggest that he (or she) apply for the $10-per-hour construction job from which Vick eventually will be resigning.
