Tarvaris Jackson asked for the job, but the Vikings have apparently opted to go another way at backup quarterback.
Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press reports that the team has signed former Rams quarterback Shaun Hill. The move’s been in the works for a few days and brings Hill back to the team that employed him from 2002-2005.
Hill only threw one regular season pass in those four years and the Vikings probably wouldn’t mind it if he had about the same presence in their offense in 2015. That would mean Teddy Bridgewater has stayed healthy and effective as the starting quarterback in his second NFL season.
Hill started eight games for the Rams last year and they showed some interest in bringing him back for another season. With Sam Bradford reportedly on his way to Philly for Nick Foles, it looks like they’ll be going in a very different direction in the quarterback room.
