X-rays taken on Geno Smith’s shoulder

Ten days after Jets quarterback Geno Smith had an encouraging performance in a close loss, he had a miserable performance in a blowout loss.

To make matters worse for Smith, who was yanked after throwing three first-quarter interceptions, he has a shoulder injury. X-rays were taken after the game, and coach Rex Ryan will provide an update on Monday.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Smith wasn’t benched because of the injury, but because of his performance. Ryan has said that he doesn’t know who will start at quarterback next week at Kansas City, where the Jets will try to avoid falling to 1-8.
