Prescott is in the final year of his current deal and is currently set to earn $55.455 million in 2024. While Prescott would be more than happy to take home that large sum of cash this season, his contract, as it stands right now, is leaving the Cowboys strapped for cash with extensions for other players — particularly CeeDee Lamb — coming down the line. Prescott said he doesn’t “necessarily” want to be the highest-paid quarterback in the league, and that he wants to do what’s best for the team. If he and the team are able to hammer out an extension, it would almost certainly lower his 2024 cap number and free the Cowboys up to get other deals done.

The Jets are reportedly waiting for an acceptable offer for the former No. 2 overall pick but there’s presumably a significant delta between what the Jets consider acceptable vs. what the league considers. Wilson, who has been a regular participant in offseason activities over the last three years was noticeably absent from voluntary workouts this week. He was given permission to speak with other teams about a potential trade, but it doesn’t appear anything significant came from that. If Wilson isn’t traded, the Jets are reportedly ready to keep him for the upcoming season.

The 32-year-old veteran has been with the Jags since 2014. He has never been the team’s first option at any position but can fill in at either guard spot or center when needed. Shatley has started 18 regular season games over the past two years, all of which came at left guard. He will return for his flexible backup role in 2024.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Rapoport was quick to reiterate his belief that Daniels remains the favorite to be drafted second overall to the Commanders. However, it’s clear oddsmakers and mock drafters were too quick to call it a done deal. North Carolina’s Drake Maye would likely be the pick if the Commanders go in a different direction. Maye can’t match Daniels’ elite rushing potential but does have incredible arm strength and posted strong passing numbers in his two seasons as a starter. The Patriots hold the third pick and, barring a trade, appear set to take the quarterback Washington passes on.

Ogletree had been placed on the list after he was arrested on felony domestic violence charges in late December. The charges against Ogletree were dropped in March. Prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to move forward with the case. Ogletree, who had nine catches for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns last season, will rejoin the Colts as a rotational player.

Chark, who had 35 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns in Carolina in 2023, would profile as a potential starter for LA. With one 1,000-yard season in seven years in the NFL, Chark, 27, functions strictly as a deep threat. Even if the Chargers take a top wideout in the NFL Draft, Chark could see significant playing time in Greg Roman’s run-first offense.

With his contract situation in limbo — Sutton is guaranteed only $2 million for 2024 — the veteran wideout is opting out of “voluntary” practice. Paton has opted for diplomacy instead of irritation. “It’s the first week of the offseason program. (Coach Sean Payton has) talked to Courtland. I’ve talked to Courtland. He’s in a good place and we’ll just leave it at that.” It is very much up in the air whether Sutton will return to the Mile High City for 2024, but the matter could be settled during next week’s draft.

“Should” is doing a lot of work here, especially since Dobbins’ 2023 injury is only one of multiple traumatic lower-body issues suffered during his four-year NFL career. Hortiz also admitted the obvious that Dobbins’ signing should not affect the Chargers’ odds of selecting a back in the draft. “You don’t want to turn away from a good player because you’ve signed someone.” At least in terms of fantasy, Dobbins is squarely in the realm of “any 2024 contributions will be a bonus.”

This comes less than a month after Payton said it’s “realistic” to think the Broncos could trade up from the No. 12. The Broncos’ need for a franchise quarterback after the failed Russell Wilson trade can’t be overstated. With Jarrett Stidham the only quarterback of note on the roster, Denver needs to find a solution that offers more than what Stidham has over his career. Denver holds two top 100 picks in this year’s draft and also has its 2025 first-round pick to use as a bargaining chip. If they were to attempt to trade up, these picks could prove valuable in facilitating a deal to land what they hope will be their franchise quarterback. The only quarterback the Broncos have held a top-30 visit with is Michael Penix, but we know they also met with Bo Nix at the scouting combine.

When last we left Cephus last April, he was receiving an indefinite ban for betting on NFL contests. He’s lucky he’s back in the league at all. Still only 26, Cephus might actually get a second chance, however, as a relatively experienced, versatile-ish veteran with 37 career grabs. We assume it won’t come in Detroit after last year’s unpleasantness.
