Back in June, Tomas Vokoun made it clear that he planned to continue his career after missing most of the 2013-14 campaign due to a blood-clot problem. With training camp just around the corner though, it remains to be seen if he’s played in his last game.

Adding to the speculation is agent Allan Walsh’s revelation that Vokoun rejected two NHL contract as well as a pair of training camp invites. Walsh made it clear that his client still wants to continue his career, but “only in the right situation.”

It’s not known what Vokoun would consider the right situation. Even before being limited to just two AHL games last season, the veteran goaltender was willing to serve as a backup in Pittsburgh, but playing for the Penguins presented him with a serious opportunity to raise the Stanley Cup. Although the 38-year-old netminder had won 300 games, he has never been part of a championship team and has only played between the pipes in 22 career postseason contests.

Vokoun isn’t expected to attend training camp, but he has been preparing for 2014-15 and is ready to play, according to his agent.
