When the Chicago Blackhawks play against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight, they will be missing Brad Richards. The 34-year-old forward is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, according to CSN Chicago.

Richards inked a one-year, $2 million contract with Chicago over the summer after being bought out by the New York Rangers. The initial plan was to have him center a line that would include Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad, but Richards struggled out of the gate and was initially used sparingly.

He’s seen his playing time in Chicago steadily increase though and has recently been logging minutes with Kane and Kris Versteeg.

This will be the first game that Richards has missed in 2014-15. He was one of 11 Blackhawks players to participate in all of their first 33 contests. He had six goals and 18 points over that span.
