Chiarelli unsure of his future with Bruins
Remember two days ago when the Boston Bruins didn’t want to “rely on the last game” to make the playoffs?
Well, after consecutive losses to Washington and Florida, that’s what they’ll have to do. And even if they beat the Lightning tomorrow, it may not be enough. Either the Ottawa Senators or Pittsburgh Penguins would have to slip up too.
And so embattled GM Peter Chiarelli met with reporters today, sounding a lot like a guy who was preparing for the worst.
A sampling of tweets from the assembled media:
Peter Chiarelli said Bruins haven't had that "killer instinct. . . I don't see the will."— Joe McDonald (@JoeyMacHockey) April 10, 2015
Chiarelli: "I don't buy that they need motivation. There are teams that win with rosters lesser than ours."— Joe McDonald (@JoeyMacHockey) April 10, 2015
I asked Chiarelli if he'll be around to fix the team: "I don’t know. I’m not sure. I’m operating that I am until they tell me that I’m not."— Amalie Benjamin (@AmalieBenjamin) April 10, 2015
Chiarelli: "These things can all be fixed. No question we missed Iginla & Boychuk, but uv got to turn over ur roster...bring up new talent"— Joe Haggerty (@HackswithHaggs) April 10, 2015
We’ll post video of Chiarelli’s availability if it becomes available. But it goes without saying that if the Bruins do indeed miss the playoffs, all eyes will be on CEO Charlie Jacobs to see what he does about it.
