Bobrovsky admits he has ‘zero confidence right now’

Sergei Bobrovsky

Sergei Bobrovsky

You know how people rub it in when a highly paid goalie flops? That’s probably happening to Sergei Bobrovsky right now.

The Columbus Blue Jackets were already “off the rails” after starting the season with three straight losses, so how do you describe them after they also dropped a painful 7-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators?

/Scans “Crazy Train” lyrics to see if anything tops “off the rails”

All joking aside, the Blue Jackets are a mess right now. It’s not fair to pin the blame on Bobrovsky alone, either.

Still, this is how sports work. When a team lays a bunch of eggs, you go after the biggest name (who usually draws the largest salary).

Let’s be honest, when you’re making $7.425 million per year, people aren’t going to be happy when you allow six goals on just 25 shots.

It’s not as if this is one off night, as Bobrovsky continued a streak in which he’s allowed at least four goals in every game in this young season.

Not everyone will be as forgiving as the Columbus Dispatch’s Aaron Portzline was here:

To little surprise, the team had a closed-door meeting, also according to Portzline:

So, let’s ponder this, then: how worried should Columbus be (in general and about Bobrovsky in particular)?
