Kings trade prospect Kozun to Toronto for Crescenzi

The Los Angeles Kings capped off a busy Wednesday of minor tweaks by trading forward prospect Brandon Kozun to the Toronto Maple Leafs for minor league center Andrew Crescenzi.

They also made some AHL moves as they called up forward Tyler Toffoli (pictured) and defenseman Jeff Schultz while sending down forwards Tanner Pearson and Linden Vey to the Manchester Monarchs.

As far as the trade goes, it’s largely a skill-for-size proposition.

Kozun, 23, is a three-time 20+ goal scorer at the AHL level and was a high-scoring player at the WHL level, collecting two 100+ seasons with the Calgary Hitmen in 2008-09 and 2009-10. To say he’s under-sized is an understatement; the Kings list him at 5-foot-8, 167 lbs.

Crescenzi, 21, stands at 6-foot-4 but brings more of a gritty game (33 penalty minutes in 32 AHL games this season) than anything else (just two points in that span).

It remains to be seen if either player ever makes an NHL impact, but it still stands as a busy day for the Kings.
