NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly and the NHLPA’s Steve Fehr did talk on Saturday. The bad news is that they didn’t schedule any further face-to-face meetings and given that the NHL campaign supposedly needs to start by Nov. 2 to preserve an 82-game season...that’s very bad news. Sadly, it’s also in no way surprising, given how their last meeting ended. (Sportsnet)

But if you want a more positive spin on the current state of the CBA talks, some labor experts see the end of the lockout in sight. (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)

Meanwhile, Sabres prospect Marcus Foligno got four points in the AHL Rochester Americans’ wild 8-7 victory over the Hershey Bears. Cody Hodgson also played a big role with three assists. (AHL.com)
