Radko Gudas and Martin Hanzal won’t have disciplinary hearings for their respective hits in Saturday night’s game.
Gudas leveled Shane Doan near the corner of the ice in the Flyers’ zone. Doan was shaken up after going into the boards awkwardly. After the game, Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett said Doan “seemed fine” and was held out for precautionary reasons.
Hanzal delivered a hit from behind on Flyers forward Claude Giroux. The Coyotes forward was given a penalty for boarding and a game misconduct (top). After the game, Hanzal explained what happened on the play.
“I pushed him with one arm,” Hanzal said, per Philly.com. “Obviously, he’s their captain, so they went after me. I don’t understand. They went after me and I didn’t do anything.”
For what it’s worth, Hanzal also said Gudas’ hit was “a little dirty”.
Luckily, it seems as though both Giroux and Doan escaped without suffering serious injuries.
