Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith was assessed a double-minor for high sticking, after he slashed L.A. Kings’ forward Jeff Carter in the face during the second period of Game 3 Tuesday.

The incident happened in the neutral zone, as the pair were skating up the ice. Carter whacked Keith on the hand as Keith tried to pick his glove up off the ice. Keith retaliated, whacking Carter in the face with a one-handed slash.

Carter left the game briefly but did return. Keith came up to Carter during a stoppage in play, offering what looked to be an apology. Carter didn’t appear to accept it.
