Portland Pilots WBB pulls away late in second win over Seattle U this season

Two games against Seattle University, two victories.

The Portland Pilots women's basketball team (2-1) matched up with Seattle U for the second time this season, defeating the Redhawks 80-68 at Chiles Center. 

Portland won the first matchup of the 2020-21 season 82-70 up in Seattle. 

The Pilots led by just three early in the fourth quarter, but used a quick 6-0 run to take the lead to nine and never looked back. 

Alex Fowler led Portland in scoring with 20 points on 7-13 shooting from the field. Joining her in double figures was senior guard Maddie Muhlheim with 17 points on 6-13 from the field, 5-11 from behind the three-point line. 

Fowler was named the University Credit Union West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week after her performances against Oregon and Seattle U. 

McKenzi Williams led Seattle with 18 points on 5-9 from the field, but her team was outscored by 15 with her on the floor. 

Next for the Pilots is a visit from the Northwest University Eagles on Friday night at the Chiles Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
