Payton Pritchard scores 92 points in Portland Pro-Am game

Ducks

Former Oregon Duck Payton Pritchard was one of the standouts from the 2021 NBA Las Vegas Summer League.

In his first time playing in the event for the Celtics, he averaged 20.3 points, 8.7 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals. A great outing for the sophomore guard. His performance led the team to defeat teams by an average of over 20 points and to the Summer League Championship Game.

Where the interesting part comes in is that Pritchard won’t participate in the game. He left Vegas due to a prior commitment and it looks like the commitment might’ve been showing out at another summer pro-am league.

In a high-scoring Portland Pro-Am game, he put up 92 points and led his team to a 165-163 win.

Pritchard’s team faced the former Nets guard Mike James as he put up 63 points.

It was a high-scoring affair between guards at the highest level.

The performances of Pritchard and James coupled with Isiah Thomas’ 81 in Seattle, led to former NBA guard Nick Young chiming in on Twitter. Leading to a conversation on which cities have the best and maybe the worst basketball scenes.

Young is from California, which has produced over 400 NBA players, compared to Oregon's 32.

The social media trash talking is always fun though!
