WNBA

Here's some encouraging news!

New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu received a positive update from the ankle injury she sustained in July.

The latest?

No surgery is required!

The former Oregon superstar visited a foot and ankle specialist after suffering what was diagnosed as a Grade 3 ankle sprain against the Atlanta Dream on July 31st. A Grade 3 sprain is considered the most serious type of ankle sprain and can take several weeks to several months to heal.

There is no word on if or when Ionescu will return to the “wubble” at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The Liberty have not provided a timetable for her return, but said they will update Ionescu's status “as it becomes available.” Until then, more movie night's with the Bryant family will do the body good.

In her three appearances with the Liberty, Ionescu was averaging 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
