Grant uses big second half to grab the quarterfinal victory over West Salem
Grant pulls away in the 3rd quarter
After a first half played in a daze, the Grant Generals awoke in time to catapult themselves into a PIL showdown on Friday against Lincoln in the semifinals of the OSAA State Championships, with a 72-57 win Thursdaynight against the West Salem Titans.
Led by Kelton Samore's 25 points and 10 rebounds, Grant, who led 34-30 at the half, pulled away in a dominant third quarter, where they outscored West Salem 19-9, on their way to the win.
The Generals, who dropped all three regular season games against conference rivals Jefferson Democrats, are one win away from securing their spot in the championship game -- one which could see a fourth and final rematch against the Democrats.
In order to get there, the Generals have to get through yet another PIL member, Lincoln, on Friday.
