The Seattle Kraken are set to construct their first-ever NHL team, and that process will begin on Wednesday during the expansion draft.
Some of the most recognizable athletes from Seattle will help announce the team's picks, per ESPN.
From the Seahawks, they’ll be represented by Marshawn Lynch and Bobby Wagner. SuperSonics legends Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, and Lenny Wilkens will be there. Lastly, Storm legend Sue Bird and Seattle Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris will also lend their voices.
"They're all so into the Kraken. This was the easiest thing to book. The Kraken are the talk of the town right now," said Steve Mayer, the NHL's chief content officer and the executive producer of the draft.
Most of the athletes will appear at Gas Works Park in Seattle, in front of a crowd of Kraken fans.
That Park will include fans on boats decorated to celebrate their new NHL team.
Mayer is unsure how many of the team's picks will be in attendance on site. He also noted a fish will be thrown before a pick is announced, which is a tradition in the area.
