Few college football programs nationally are led by a former offensive lineman, which gives Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks an advantage when recruiting prospects who project to play in the trenches.
This paid off Thursday with a commitment from 3-star offensive lineman Michael Wooten, who visited Eugene, OR on June 18th, via his Instagram page.
"He's a very down-to-earth guy," Wooten told Dylan Ruebenking of Ducks Digest in reference to Coach Cristobal. "I really got that energy right off the bat from him."
The 6'6", 290-pound tackle chose Oregon over Colorado, Arizona State, Utah, San Diego State and more. In total, he held seven FBS offers.
After visits to Colorado and Oregon, Wooten trimmed his list to the two schools.
247Sports composite ranking has Wooten as the nation's No. 1,144 player and No. 116 offensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class.
With his commitment, Oregon has 11 commitments for 2022 ranking No. 2 in the Pac-12 and No. 20 nationally.
