Whose Pick Is It?: Best 3-on-3 All Time NBA Team
How it all works
Today we are “drafting” the best NBA 3-on-3 teams of all time!
Here’s how it’ll go…
Serena Winters, Dwight Jaynes, Jason Quick, and Jamie Hudson will take turns selecting their team. It’s just like the NBA draft where once a player has been selected he is off the board.
***Reminder: This is a 3-on-3 league*** Therefore, everyone is trying to dominate the streets with their 3-on-3 team.
Let the draft begin! With the first pick in the Best 3-on-3 All Time NBA Team draft, Jason Quick selects…
Round 1, Pick 1 - Jason -- Michael Jordan
(6-time NBA champ, 6-time NBA Finals MVP, 5-time NBA MVP, and 14-time All-Star)
Round 1, Pick 2 - Jamie -- LeBron James
(3-time NBA champ, 3-time NBA Finals MVP, 6-time All-defensive and 13-time All-Star)
Round 1, Pick 3 - Dwight -- Wilt Chamberlain
(7-time scoring champ, 13-time All-Star, 11-time TRB champ, 2-time NBA champ)
Round 1, Pick 4 - Serena -- Kobe Bryant
(5-time NBA champ, 2-time Finals MVP, 2-time scoring champ, and 18-time All-Star)
Round 2, Pick 1 - Serena -- Shaq O'Neal
(4-time NBA Champ, 3-time Finals MVP, 2-time scoring champ, and 15-time All-Star)
Round 2, Pick 2 - Dwight -- Magic Johnson
(3-time MVP, 5-time NBA champ, 3-time Finals MVP, and 12-time All-Star)
Round 2, Pick 3 - Jamie -- Bill Russell
(11-time NBA champ, 5-time MVP, and 12-time All-Star)
Round 2, Pick 4 - Jason -- Kareem Abdul Jabbar
(2-time Finals MVP, 6-time NBA champ, 4-time BLK champ, 11-time all-defensive, and 19-time All-Star)
Round 3, Pick 1 - Jason -- Larry Bird
(3-time NBA champ, 2-time Finals MVP, 3-time MVP, 3-time all-defensive, and 12-time All-Star)
Round 3, Pick 2 - Jamie -- Hakeem Olajuwon
(2-time NBA champ, 2-time NBA finals MVP, 3-time BLK champ, 9-time all-defensive, and 12-time All-Star)
Round 3, Pick 3 - Dwight -- Steph Curry
(2-time NBA champ, 2-time NBA MVP, 2015-16 scoring champ, and 5-time All-Star)
Round 3, Pick 4 - Serena -- Kevin Durant
(2016-17 NBA champ, 4-time scoring champ, 2013-14 MVP, and 9-time All-Star)
- Michael Jordan
- Kareem Abdul Jabbar
- Larry Bird
I don’t see how there is any debate that my team is the best. What other team can boast a combined 15 NBA titles and 14 MVP awards? Only Jamie’s team, thanks to Bill Russell’s 11 titles, has more combined titles (16). In Jordan, I have the undisputed best player to ever play the game, and with Kareem I have the NBA’s all-time scoring leader.
To round it off, Bird is perhaps the smartest and most savvy player ever. Oh yeah, my team plays some mean defense too: Kareem was an 11-time member of the all-defensive team; Jordan nine times and Bird three times.
- Kobe Bryant
- Shaq O’Neal
- Kevin Durant
Remember it’s a 3-on-3 game, it’s not the 3 best NBA players of all-time. You need two ridiculous shooters and shot creators and a beast down low. Guard-skilled bigs are perfect, and there’s none better than Kevin Durant. You need rim protection and rebounding, and there ain’t no stopping The Big Diesel in the paint. And you need guys that can create their own shot (if you’ve got a great team—like me— all three can do this), but there’s no one better than Kobe Bryant. To top it off, when the game is on the line, and you need that last play to win, mentally, you need a guy that hates to lose more than they love to win, and you know I’m talking about Kobe here. Done. Ain’t no stopping this team.
I dare anyone to come in the paint against my 3-on-3 team! Just try driving into the lane... SWAT!!
Yep, I feel good about having this epic paring, these twin towers… Bill Russell and Hakeem Olajuwon—two of the greatest shot blockers in hoops history, side-by-side.
Can you imagine my team giving opponents some of the BIGGEST matchup problems!? Umm, YES! And, I haven’t even talked about King James running the point. You know LeBron would love to run this team and set up monster finishes by his legendary big men.
I have to admit; I was debating on picking Hakeem or Gary Payton. I mean, for real, thinking about having The Glove’s defense and trash talking on my 3-on-3 team just seemed right, but then I thought how could I go against The Dream?? Plus, putting Hakeem with Lebron and Russell gives me a triple-goat lineup, with 16 (!!!!) NBA titles between them. That was too much winning to pass up!
- Wilt Chamberlain
- Magic Johnson
- Steph Curry
I got the best playmaker, best shooter and best center in the history of basketball. Case closed. Wilt will rebound every miss and Magic will simply do whatever he needs to do to win. It’s a three on three dream team.
