NFL head coaches take a hit on Black Monday
As of Monday morning, one-third of the NFL workforce has been fired, according to Michael Lombardi of the The Athletic.
The Dolphins have fired head coach Adam Gase after posting a 23-25 record over three seasons. Gase has already been linked to Denver and Cleveland as a possible head coaching candidate.
Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, Defensive Coordinator Marquand Manuel, and Special Teams coach Keith Armstrong are out at Atlanta.
Some other notable fires include the Jets’ Todd Bowles, Bucs’ Dirk Koetter and Broncos’ Vance Joseph.
Nick Foles falls shy of $1 million incentive
Yikes. Nick Foles just missed out on $1 million.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, who helped lead the defending champions to another postseason, could have earned a $1 million incentive if he played 33 percent of the team’s play.
Foles, unfortunately, only played 32 percent of the team’s snaps due to a rib injury that ended his day early vs. the Redskins.
Despite Foles’ lighter pockets, Philadelphia will have a chance to make another dangerous run in the postseason. They play the Bears on Sunday at Soldier Field.
Cowboys 2.5-point favorites over DangeRuss Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have secured the No. 5 seed and will travel to Dallas to play the Cowboys in the Wild Card round.
According to OddsShark, the Cowboys open up as 2.5-point favorites over Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.
The Saturday matchup will be the second meeting between the two teams’ this season. Seattle last beat Dallas 24-13 in Week 3.
Both teams have a 10-6 record, while the Cowboys are 7-1 at AT&T Stadium in 2018.
Are the 49ers interested in Earl Thomas?
Could Earl Thomas soon join Richard Sherman in San Francisco? Sherman believes so.
According to NBCS Bay Area, the 49ers veteran cornerback says San Francisco could recruit Thomas at the beginning of the free-agent signing period.
Thomas suffered a season-ending leg fracture in Week 4, and was seen making an obscene gesture at the Seahawks sideline while being carted off the field.
Many believe Thomas' tenure in Seattle is over, but it's unclear whether or not he will rejoin his former teammate in the Bay.
