NFL News and Rumors: Tom Brady continues his G.O.A.T campaign
Thursday Night Football between the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots put on display two of the best throwers in the game: Colts QB Andrew Luck and arguable the G.O.A.T QB Patriots Tom Brady.
Let’s take a look at this game and more surrounding the NFL heading into week five action…
- Brady adds to his G.O.A.T resume
- Gordon fitting in nicely
- Luck is throwing A LOT
- Ramsey on facing the Chiefs
Tom Brady continues to prove he is the best
Patriots QB Tom Brady added another staple in his impressive, 19-year NFL resume last night vs. the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football. Brady becomes just the third QB, behind Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508), to throw 500 career touchdown passes. And he did so all while wearing red, white, and blue.
Another impressive stat that came out of last night for Brady, is he is the only quarterback to throw at least one touchdown to 71 different players.
In an interview with ESPN staff writer Mike Reiss, Brady says, "I just think of all the people who have really worked hard. A quarterback doesn't throw them to himself. He needs people to catch, and block, and the defense to make plays, and coaches to coach. These are all great team awards. Pretty cool."

The Patriots (3-2) defeat the Colts (1-4) 38-24 in Foxborough, Mass.
Gordon records first touchdown with the Patriots
Josh Gordon, the newest addition at wide receiver for Bill Belichick and the Patriots, was the recipient of Brady’s 500th passing touchdown and marking him the 71st players Brady has thrown a touchdown pass to. Brady had all day to read a book and bbq some ribs in the pocket while Gordon broke free down the field. Gordon was in double coverage, but Brady threw it up anyways and Gordon made a great play for the ball.
Watch the play HERE.
Gordon showed his speed and prowess for the ball and timed his jump perfectly for the TD. Now, Gordon isn’t even 100% healthy as he continues to battle a hamstring issue. But just this glimpse of Gordon in Belichick’s system shows promise in New England. And with speedy wide receiver Julian Edelman back on the field, and of course big man Gronk, Brady has his arsenal back.
The Patriots will host the impressive Chiefs on Sunday Night Football next Sunday at 5:20 PM (PT)
Too much Luck
Andrew luck is sure throwing a lot of passes for a quarterback is coming off of shoulder surgery… Luck threw 53 pass attempts in week one vs. the Bengals and 62 pass attempts in week four vs. the Texans. How does a team reduce the number of passes thrown? Well, establishing the run game is a good start. Unfortunately for the Colts, they are very young at that position.
In his post game press conference, Luck says, “…we’re not going to win consistently until we learn how to get out of our own way.”
The Colts (1-4) will hit the road to face the New York Jets (1-3) at MetLife Stadium, NY.
Ramsey calls out Hill
We all know Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey is a talker. He has done it week after week, but also where he talks, he walks. He proved that against New England TE Rob Gronkowski, and it’s more of the same this week as Jacksonville faces the electric Pat Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
When asked about his potential one-on-one matchup with wide receiver Tyreek Hill, Ramsey wanted to make it clear that Hill is better as a return specialist rather than a wide receiver:
“He’s good for what he does for that team,” says Ramsey. “He made All-Pro as a return specialist…”
