What you need to know and who to watch for: 2018 NFL Combine
The 2018 NFL Scouting Combine is right around the corner
The combine officially kicks off next Tuesday, February 27th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and it will run through March 5th.
This year approximately 326 players will go through the combine workouts and interviews. Fans can watch the broadcast of the on-field workouts starting Friday, March 2nd or watch the stream online at NFL.com.
Here’s a quick rundown of the 2018 Combine schedule:
Friday, March 2: Running backs, offensive linemen, placekickers/special teams.
Saturday, March 3: Quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends
Sunday, March 4: Defensive linemen and linebackers
Monday, March 5: Defensive backs
Who to watch? Oregon RB Royce Freeman
Position: Running Back
Weight: 234 LBS
Royce Freeman’s honors and awards for 2017 included a Second-Team All-Conference honor, SB Nation All-America Honorable Mention and a Maxwell Award Semifinalist - National Player of the Year.
The 21-year old running back out of Oregon has dealt with injuries such as hip tightness that has prevented him from consistently performing at 100%.
According to NFL.com, Freeman is projected to be selected in the 3rd and 4th round of this year’s draft. NFL.com gives Freeman an overall grade of 5.63.
Who to watch? Oregon State RB Ryan Nall
Position: Running Back
Weight: 237 LBS
Some of Ryan Nall’s career stats are highlighted by, his 2,216 rushing yards that ranks him eighth in Oregon State history. Nall’s 24 rushing touchdowns ranks him seventh in school history.
Nall hails from Sandy, Oregon and was Oregon's Prep Football Player of the Year back in 2013 when he had 1,684 yards and 22 touchdowns during his senior season.
The 22-year-old is projected to go in the 7th round of this year’s draft, that’s according to NFL.com.
Who to watch? Washington and Washington State players
A total of four Washington State Cougar players and seven Washington Huskies have been invited to the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine.
