2022 NFL Draft: Kayvon Thibodeaux given 3rd-best betting odds to go No. 1

Could Kayvon Thibodeaux hear his name read first during the 2022 NFL Draft? Maybe.

The third-year Ducks edge rusher has been considered one of the elite prospects in the 2022 class for years, with a majority of evaluators rating him as the best pure prospect in next year's draft class.

Now, PointsBet, the official betting partner of NBC Sports, has given KT the third-best odds to be selected first overall next April at +400.

He trails just Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler (+225) and North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell (+350).

A quarterback has gone No. 1 during the last four NFL Drafts, and ten of the previous thirteen drafts. Thibodeaux could become the third defensive lineman taken first overall since 2014, joining Jadeveon Clowney and Myles Garrett.

Rattler's also the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at +400 which isn't surprising after Lincoln Riley has coached Heisman Trophy winner in back-to-back seasons during 2017-18.

Meanwhile, Thibodeaux's not listed by PointsBet on Heisman Trophy odds despite the former No. 1 recruit nationally saying he aims to take home the trophy this upcoming season.

"One of my goals is to win the Heisman," he said in April.

Former Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough has been given +5000 odds to be selected first overall, too. While in high school, Shough was considered the nation's best passer by some NFL scouts. It's still possible he can put it all together for Texas Tech this fall.
