After years of constructing a state-of-the-art track and field facility, four Oregon Ducks won national championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR this past weekend.
Freshman Cole Hocker won the 1500m, junior Cooper Teare won the 5,000m, freshman Emmanual Ihemeje won the triple jump (first time in school history), and senior Carmela Cardama Baez wrapped up her career finishing first in the 10k.
"To be able to do that in a championship race, now I have a lot more confidence going into Trials," said Teare of his 13:12.27 time which was below the Olympic standard of 13:13.50.
Oregon finished second nationally with 53 points at the men's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, trailing LSU who scored 84 points.
The women disappointed with just one athlete scoring points on Saturday, Kemba Nelson finishing fourth in the 100m.
