Cristobal has signed the Pac-12's best conference for three years in a row at Oregon and has done so by getting many of the elite prospects from California and other western states. He's also shown he can get athletes from all over the country to join him in Eugene.

There's no doubt he'll recruit talent to Auburn as head coach as well, but the head-to-head battles with Alabama, Georgia, and LSU will be intensified.

Oregon is the most recognizable brand in the Pacific Northwest and arguably on the West Coast competing with USC who is not the USC of old.

Meanwhile, Auburn is easily second-fiddle to Alabama in its own state.

Growing up on the West Coast, playing for Oregon is cool. Growing up in Alabama, playing against Auburn in the Iron Bowl is cool.

Oregon has that in spades with the nation's second-best facilities according to 247Sports. Whenever a recruit is hosted on campus, it feels like they are in a football utopia.

It takes a lot to be even on the hot seat in Eugene, let alone be fired as being Oregon's head coach.

Meanwhile, at Auburn, that seat appears to always be hot due to expectations from the base combined with incredibly difficult schedules.

As the head coach of Oregon, you have to please one man, Phil Knight, to the point that Cristobal mentioned he trusted the Nike founder as the first person he trusted on Monday when asked about the Auburn rumors.

What does Phil Knight want more than anything from the college football program? To win. What does Cristobal do with all the talent he brings in? Win.

Meanwhile, Gus Malzahn routinely had top-25 finishes and was on the perpetual hot seat in Auburn. Well, yeah? A Top-ten finish with Georgia, Alabama, and LSU on the schedule every season isn't feasible.

Oregon seems to be on the cusp of a new, dominant era in the Pac-12. No other team is recruiting on its level and it has arguably the best offensive and defensive coordinator in the conference.

The Ducks have sold recruits on competing for a National Championship and with the talent being brought in, why not? Would Cristobal really want to start over at Auburn?

At Auburn to make the College Football Playoff, you need to go at least 2-1, likely 3-0 against Alabama, Georgia, and LSU. Then the Tigers have two more games against top-four opponents.

At Oregon? Win your marquee non-conference game and then defeat USC? Washington?

Oregon could become the Clemson of the Pac-12 where it routinely brings in premiere talent and competes for the playoff. It would be a matter of time before Oregon's back in the title game with a good chance to win it.
