Chris Duarte signs with agent, effectively ending his career with Oregon Ducks

Chris Duarte took the first steps in becoming a professional basketball player.

On Monday, Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports reported the Oregon forward has hired an agent.

Briscoe also represents the likes of Dwight Howard, Avery Bradley and David Nwaba.

By signing with an agent, Duarte cannot return to play college basketball.

The latest news isn't shocking-- the Pac-12 Player of the Year was never expected to be back in an Oregon uniform.

Head Coach Dana Altman signaled the guard wasn't going to be back next season, and last week, Duarte thanked Duck nation for all of their support.

The Oregon Ducks guard won the Jerry West Award as nation's top SG after averaging 17.3 points per game, good for fifth in the conference. Duarte finished second in the league in steals per game at 1.9 and added 19 blocks this season in 22 regular-season games.

Duarte is expected to be a first-round pick and may climb as high as a lottery pick.
