Ducks: 5-star CB Dayken Everette lists Oregon inside top-5

It may be Daylen Everette's birthday, but Oregon was who received the gift Thursday afternoon.

The 5-star cornerback narrowed his list to five schools, including Oregon, to celebrate turning 17 years old on Thursday. The Ducks are listed along with Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina and Florida State for the Bradenton, FL native.

"I talk to Coach (Rod) Chance and me and him have a good relationship," he told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. The defensive back added all five teams are close to one another.

The 6'1", 185-pound cornerback eliminated Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida, Virginia, and Virginia Tech from his top-12 from January.

247Sports evaluators have Everette as the nation's No. 4 cornerback and No. 22 player nationally, regardless of position. Meanwhile, he has a composite five-star rating to go with rankings of the nation's No. 7 CB and No. 38 player.

He has visits to Georgia and North Carolina scheudled for June 18th and June 25th.

Oregon offered Everette on July 14th, 2020.

247Sports Southeast Recruiting Analyst Andrew Ivins projects Everette as a Day 2 NFL Draft pick with a player comparison of Bryce Hall.

"Well-put together athlete with longer limbs," he wrote in September 2020. "Has developed some muscle in the arms. Sprinter-like quads. A bigger cornerback that thrives in bump-and-run situations. Also capable of mirroring in off coverage with his quick feet and loose hips. Uses a strong punch to redirect at the line of scrimmage and get plays off schedule. Instincts allow him to feel out routes. Has played some offense in the past. Times jumps well. Fights through blocks to provide run support, but will need to find more leverage at the next level if he’s going to take down college-sized running backs in the open field. Hasn’t posted any verified testing numbers, but has reportedly broke 4.4 in the 40-yard dash.

"Picked off 11 passes as a sophomore playing in one of Virginia’s higher classifications before transferring into the powerhouse that is IMG Academy. Didn’t see many, if any, balls come his way as a junior. Highly respected by the support staff in Bradenton. One of the top corner prospects in the class of 2022 given frame and movement patterns. Has the skillset to develop into an impact player for a Top 25 program and eventually a Day 1 or Day 2 pick in the NFL Draft."

In 2019, Evertette recorded 32 tackles, 10 pass breakups and 11 interceptions at Norfolk (Va.) Norview before transferring to IMG Academy, where he helped the team win a National Championship last fall.
