After becoming one of the NBA’s breakout stars in his first season, Payton Pritchard is looking to teach the next generation how to ball.

The Boston Celtics guard and former Oregon Ducks legend is headed back to his hometown of West Linn, Ore., this summer, where he will hold the four-day Payton Pritchard Basketball Camp.

According to the registration site for the camp, the 6-foot-2 guard will “demonstrate and teach the ball handling and shooting skills that made him a first-round draft pick of the Boston Celtics.” If camp attendees walk away with handles anything close to Pritchard’s, they will be set for conquering any ball-handling clinic they attend.

The camp will also feature a 5-on-5 tournament, a camp “decathlon,” and of course, there will be guest speakers. Will one of Pritchard’s Celtics teammates make an appearance? Could he call in close friends Anthony Mathis or Jaydon Grant to shed light on some advice?

Before being selected 14th overall by the Celtics, Pritchard was the Pac-12 Player of the Year, All-Pac-12 First-Team, Lute Olson Player of the Year, and Oregon’s first consensus first-team All-American in 80 years. He was one of just three players nationally to average at least 20 points, four rebounds and five assists per game and was one of just four players nationally who led his conference in both scoring (20.5 points per game) and assists (5.6 per game).

Fresh off his rookie campaign, Pritchard shot 44.0 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from 3-point range and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line. He added 7.7 points per game, 2.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for the Celtics.

Boston’s sparkplug is expected to be a key part of the team’s future success with Ime Udoka at the helm as head coach.
