The Oregon Ducks 2021 football season is less than a week away, as they’ll start the season at home against Fresno State.
As the team begins their trek towards a championship season in the post-Justin Herbert era, there are some questions and intrigue around the team.
One of them being around Kayvon Thibodeaux. He’s coming off an offseason where he’s signed NIL deals totaling six figures, has been named to preseason watch lists for high-profile awards and has gotten his fair share of media praise for accolades. Also, he’s already viewed as a top 5 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He has nothing left to accomplish, but he’s back to have a huge year as he did a season ago. There’s much pressure on him this season, and former Ducks QB Joey Harrington knows a thing or two about that. He joined Talkin’ Ducks to discuss Thibodeaux.
“He can have one of the biggest years we’ve seen defensively at Oregon,” Harrington said. “I hesitate because everybody they play is going to focus on him. He may have phenomenal numbers at the end of the year. If he doesn’t, it doesn’t mean he had a poor year or he didn't do his job.
“Sometimes defensively and offensively means doing your job means somebody else gets the credit. I think he can have tremendous and should, could, would as an All-American and high draft pick. I just hesitate to say he has to have 15 sacks and 11 pressures or this year didn't live up to expectations.”
All eyes will be on Thibodeaux.
The 2021 edition of the Ducks football team will be an interesting one. Will Thibodeaux surpass what he did a season ago or regress?
In less than a week the journey for the answers to the aforementioned questions and more will be answered.
