Las Vegas Raiders quarterback and Oregon standout Marcus Mariota is helping out his home state once again.
Mariota and his Motiv8 Foundation have teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club to donate backpacks and meals to students and families in the Hawaii area.
This past Thursday and Friday, cars and cars of families received school supplies and meals.
Over 250 backpacks were handed out.
The Motiv8 Foundation “aims to create and support economic and educational programs and athletic activities to provide an alternative outlet for youth of troubled neighborhoods and backgrounds. The Foundation’s programming centers around the tools for success that will allow more children to fully matriculate through grade-school and eventually attend college,” according to its website.
Every school year the Motiv8 Foundation supports hundreds of children throughout the Hawaii islands.
Since its launch in 2015, the foundation has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars towards programs promoting healthy lifestyle as well.
The 'Motiv8' name not only symbolizes his lifelong jersey number, but it also represents the “808” area code of his hometown, Honolulu, Hawaii.
