The Oregon Ducks women's basketball program will have another open spot on its staff to fill this summer.
Assistant coach Xavier Lopez, Xavi for short, will join Mark Campbell at Sacramento State to serve as his associate head coach.
Lopez has served on Graves staff for the past seven years, including the last four as an assistant coach playing a key role in the program's scouting and recruiting departments. Lopez helped recruit Satou Sabally and Maite Cazorla from overseas to enroll in Eugege.
"I am thrilled to have Xavi as my Associate Head Coach," said Campbell on Monday. "We have worked together for the last seven years and I know he is the best international recruiter in women's basketball. More importantly, he is a relationship builder who will be an incredible mentor to these young women."
Originally from Barcelona, Lopez played professionally in Spain for six years for the Bilbao Basket in the prestigious ACB Spanish League, among other clubs.
Former Oregon guard Jaz Shelley posted on her Instagram story she's extremelt excited for Lopez's opportunity and thanked him for everything.
With both Campbell and Lopez gone, the Ducks will need to hire some new coaches with experience in recruiting since the two were instrumental in the Ducks talent acquisiton as of late.
