After being underrated as a high school prospect, Iowa State junior quarterback Brock Purdy has made those evaluations look stupid as the Cyclones starting quarterback since his true freshman season. On the season, he has passed for 2,594 yards (7.7 per attempt), 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He can also run the ball, having rushed for 343 yards on 78 attempts in 2020.

Against the Sooners in the Big 12 Championship Game, Purdy completed 27-of-40 passes for 322 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in the loss.

On the other side of the field, redshirt-sophomore Tyler Shough has been starting all season for the Ducks but he has struggled the previous two games against Cal and USC to end the season.

Against the Trojans in the Pac-12 Championship Game, Shough completed 8-of-15 passes for just 91 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the 31-24 win.
