The 2021 Playstation Fiesta Bowl is finally here and as the No. 25 Oregon Ducks take the field against the No. 10 Iowa State Cyclones, one running back was seen wearing street clothes during warmups.

After getting banged up this second half of the season, junior running back CJ Verdell won't be available for the Ducks for the 1 p.m. (PT) kickoff in Glendale, Arizona.

During Friday’s head coaches press conference, Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal said that Verdell practiced all week leading up to the game and traveled with the team to the desert on Thursday.

The 5’10”, 210-pound junior starting running back has been banged up and seen up and down minutes throughout this entire season. After starting off the first two games recording over 100+ yards on the ground, Verdell has been dealing with a non-disclosed injury for the last four games.

He warmed up against Cal on December 5 but only played a few snaps.

Now, Verdell will miss the final game Oregon will play this season.

However, in his absence, junior Travis Dye has excelled in both the run game and pass game for the Ducks. The 5’10”, 200-pound speedster has four total receiving touchdowns which is something that Moorhead’s offensive style has brought to the Oregon offense this season.
