It’s rare in college football to have the same backfield for three consecutive seasons but that was the case in Eugene, Oregon for the Oregon backfield.
Duck fans have enjoyed watching the three-headed monster of CJ Verdell, Travis Dye and Cyrus Habibi-Likio for some time now.
But unfortunately, that trifecta will look different next season.
Cyrus Habibi-Likio has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
“It never rains in Autzen Stadium.”
Here’s a look at Habibi-Likio’s career at Oregon:
FRESHMAN YEAR (2017):
Utilized a redshirt season.
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN YEAR (2018):
18 carries for 36 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games played.
SOPHOMORE YEAR (2019):
85 carries for 337 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games played.
JUNIOR SEASON (2020):
19 carries for 26 yards and four touchdowns.
The 6’1”, 215-pound back was heavily utilized in short down-and-distance situations throughout this career in the Oregon backfield.
The “Redzone Warrior” will be missed but leaves the running back room in good hands. On Friday, CJ Verdell announced that he plans to return to Oregon for a “super-senior” season. Travis Dye is likely to return as well and this also means more touches for redshirt freshman Sean Dollars, freshman Trey Benson and incoming back Seven McGee.
